Speaking of shell trimming we should briefly touch base on yours. It will make a world of a difference coming from the 001. IMO(and many others) the default brightness is perfect anyway. You do not have to solder though, you can plug straight in and use the default brightness level. You’ll also have the option to solder(one wire, pretty easy), should you desire a range of screen brightness settings. I think there may be one or two drop in displays with no trimming needed? However, I don’t think they are as common. It’s not hard, but will require a bit of patience. The IPSV1/V2 are not designed to fit stock without trimming. So the first thing you should know (simply focusing on the display) is that you may need to trim to it shell, if you decide to stay with the original. So I just get a bit qualified to weigh in on this one. Love it so much that I’ve done a few now (they make great gifts for those nerdy friends!). I landed on a funny playing kit myself, and I love it.
GAMEBOY ADVANCE SP BRIGHTER SCREEN MOD MOD
So the IPS display is pretty much the “go to” mod for the GBA/GBASP. I know there’s no 100% perfect solution, but y’all know more than I do about these things so I’d appreciate any insights you might have! Is noise an actual issue, or would I be wasting my time with this? I’ll likely be getting the MEGABAT800, since my battery is old and I’d want to offset any power draw the new screen brings, which brings me to my last question: Holder’s Game Tech offers the Power Cleaner Flex PCB and Flex amp, which is supposed to fix noise caused by new screens. What’s the replacement screen of choice around here? What should I avoid?
GAMEBOY ADVANCE SP BRIGHTER SCREEN MOD TV
The TV Out mod also seems interesting, but not sure I’d use the option. I’ve also seen mention of screens that produce a picture more accurate to the original design, but have no idea what they are. There are a ton of screen options and it’s kinda making my head spin ?? I’ve seen some good things about the Funnyplaying kit, so that’s definitely a contender. The GBA SP has always been my favorite handheld so I figured this could be a cool project! But I’m honestly not sure where to start. Hey everyone! I recently picked up an AGS-001 with a broken screen for super cheap, with the plan to mod and fix it.
